Yama Ya

The Hammer

As a kid, Yama Ya was always bullied a lot. Being a lot bigger than the rest of the kids, he was an easy target. He quickly decided that when he grew up, he wanted to be a big, strong Earth Nation soldier, protecting those weaker than him, from forces that felt they were stronger and wanted to pick on others. Bandits, tugs, armies of other Nations, didn’t matter.

Luckily, growing up, he had is grandmother (Nana Ya) to show him kindness, restraint and thoughtfulness. She showed him how to remain calm, even everything around him was chaos and the the whole world seemed to be out to hurt him. She also taught him about the Avatar, the embodiment of unifying force in this world. His level of inner strength, but also his shows of mighty force, is what Yama Ya strives after.

When Yama Ya left the village of his grandmother, she Bent him a little cactus statuette, which is ALWAYS with Yama Ya and he will defend with his life, just as he will defend those he chooses to bond with. He has no choice though, people that small have no chance in this world without his bulk protecting him.
